Start your powerboating adventure with RYA Powerboat Level 2

Never driven a powerboat before? No problem. This exciting two-day course is designed for complete beginners, taking you from your first time at the helm to developing the skills and confidence to operate and navigate a powerboat safely.

Recognised as the RYA’s standard for introductory powerboat training, the course covers the essential skills you’ll need on the water. You’ll learn how to handle the boat at speed, come alongside and moor, pick up a mooring buoy, and recover a person from the water—plus plenty more.

Once you’ve completed the course, you may be eligible to apply for an International Certificate of Competence (ICC), which can open up even more boating opportunities. Eligibility requirements apply. Any ICC application and payment are made directly to the Royal Yachting Association, not through your training provider.

Ready to get out on the water? The first step in your powerboating journey starts here.

Learn with an experienced team, all year round

We’re proud to help students build their skills and confidence on the water. Our instructors bring many years of maritime education experience, so you’ll be learning from a team that knows the river and knows how to teach.

We train throughout the year, with regularly serviced equipment that’s kept in good condition. And because being comfortable matters on the water, we provide quality windproof and waterproof clothing to support our students during training.

From your first time at the helm to developing essential powerboating skills, we’re here to help you make the most of your course.

When applying and paying for an ICC, this is done directly to the Royal Yachting Association and not via your training provider.
